Psalm 4 (To be prayed daily for week four)
A paraphrase of the New Living Translation
1 Please answer me when I call to You,
O God, who declares me innocent.
In these troubled waters guide me through.
Hear my prayer and save me from adversaries.
2 How long will You allow others to ruin my reputation?
How long will my enemies make groundless accusation?
How long must I continue hearing my detractors telling lies?
Please intervene, O Lord, in this storm and make blue skies.
3 Thank You, Lord, for in my heart I know Your answer.
I am rejoicing like a terminal patient cured of cancer.
You are assuring me that there is something I can count on.
Trusting You, I will always have resources I can draw on.
4 Your answer, "My child, trust. Do not let anger control you.
Commit it to me overnight, and we will give the devil his due.
5 Offer prayers and sacrifices in the spirit of right.
Trust, and where you lack vision, I will give you insight."
6 I am asking for better times by your amazing grace.
Is this the time, O Lord, to guide us to that special place,
Where Moses was when he saw You face to face?
Please help us stop this rat race,
And accept your call to walk with You at your pace.
7 We now have the joy of those who have harvests of new wine.
8 Today we are at peace, and tonight we can lie down and sleep.
We are assured You will keep us safe, and all will be fine,
Giving us confidence that our lives will rhyme and shine,
With your giving our living an eternal design.
