Answer When I Call (Version 2)

Psalm 4
paraphrased in poetic verse(NLT)

1 Answer when we call to You,

O Lord God who marks us "cleaned."

Free us from the heaviness of our troubles too,

Save us from being constantly demeaned.

Have mercy on us and hear our prayer.

2Give us assurance that You really care,

That our enemies are ruining each one's reputation

Are you able to help us overcome groundless accusation?

Can you bring the attacks of our enemies to a cessation?

3 As we pray, assure us we are standing on a solid foundation.

Help us to become aware of your careful observations.

Give us faith to believe the following expectations:

You have set apart the faithful for special considerations.

You will be patient as we share our frustrations and recommendations.

4 Now I hear an inner voice, "Don’t let anger control you.

Think about it overnight and you will know what to do.

5 Worship today by offering yourself with a contrite heart,

And trust me to guide you to victory and a brand new start."

6 Many are asking, "Can God give us better times?"

Lord, answer with victories, celebrated with bells and chimes,

7 Save us again from the trash heap,

As you did when we were nothing but poison ivy vines,

And make us leaders, as tall as the Red Mountain pines.

8 Now we will accept your peace and lie down and sleep,

Trusting all that we are and have, we can count on You to keep.

For You are our God, who offered the prize Lamb for our lives.

Protect us now, as we stand rejoicing, giving out high five's.

Remember to mark verses that speak life to you. Also date those you mark, so that later when you read the poems again you can rejoice in how God has blessed you through his word.
